Prim. Prof. Dr. Franz Fellner, head of the Institute of the Central Radiology at the General Hospital of the city Linz (Kepler Universitätsklinikum former AKh, Allgemeines Krankenhaus der Stadt Linz) and president of the Upper Austrian Medical Society, welcomes the interdisciplinary collaboration of clinicians at the General Hospital with health economists at JKU. “The focus of the General Hospital Linz in the treatment of non-communicable diseases constitutes an excellent basis for the planned health care research as part of the Christian Doppler Laboratory. An efficient and equitable provision of inpatient health services in the fields of cardiovascular and oncological diseases in the light of an aging society is becoming increasingly important.”
The Kepler Universitätsklinikum (KUK) is a specialist hospital providing basic healthcare services for the Linz area and top level medical services for the province of Upper Austria. The hospitals main focus on the medical treatment of non-communicable diseases (such as heart disease), especially in the elderly, has a clear connection to this CD-Laboratory.
