“The aim was and still is the establishment of an internationally-oriented research center on the economic consequences of the aging of society. The focus of research includes empirical analyses of the Austrian healthcare system and questions concerning the effects of demographic change on labor market, health and social policy.”
The Christian Doppler (CD) Laboratory Aging, Health and the Labor Market conducts applied research on the consequences of an aging society. It creates the basis for independent and evidence-based advice for decision makers and will contribute to improve the public debate on the welfare state.
Outstanding scientists cooperate therefore with innovative companies. CD laboratories are jointly financed by the public sector and the companies involved. The most important public funding agency is the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW).
The main focus of research in this CD laboratory are empirical analyses of the Austrian healthcare system and questions concerning the effects of demographic change on labor markets, health and social policy. The Laboratory is arranged into two modules: one primarily concerned with aging and the labor market (Rudolf Winter-Ebmer) and the other one concerned mainly with health economics (Gerald Pruckner).
